Meet our next PhenomeNAIL Woman–Bethany. She's an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the best school in the world, Temple University! Beth believes in giving back and getting things done. But she also knows when it's time for a good glass of wine. See our full Q&A below.
Q: So, what do you do?
A: I am an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Temple University. I recruit and admit students into our undergrad programs. It's not 100% the same, but think Tina Fey in the movie Admission.
Q: What's been your greatest professional accomplishment so far?
A: I served as the Inclusion, Access and Success Chair for my state association. I planned and executed a 3 day/2 night boot camp program for 50 underserved and underrepresented high school students. It was one of the most challenging things I have ever done!
Q: Tell us your absolute favorite quote?
A: "I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles." - Audrey Hepburn
Q: What should every woman try at least once in her life?
A: 4 things: travel alone, be comfortable in your own silence, kiss a stranger and wear a dress with no underwear. (Is that last one too much? Haha)
Q: What's one thing you wish you knew when you were younger?
A: There is a saying: you can do anything, but you cannot do everything. I wish I would have known that earlier so that I didn't push myself as hard as I did. I was constantly exhausted and feeling burnt out a few years ago. I am just now successful as prioritizing and saying no.
Q: Who are some of your biggest female inspirations?
A: Beyonce (duh), Gloria Steinem, Michelle Obama and my grandmother Rita.
