Next up in our PhenomeNAIL Women series is Dunni Odumosu. This fearless entrepreneur knows how to work hard and dream big. Read our Q and A below for some inspiration!
Q: In a nutshell, tell us what you do.
A: I'm an Associate Director of Regulatory Affairs at a bio-pharmaceutical company. I focus on regulatory strategy for drug development, leading submissions to regulatory authorities to support submitting new drug applications for review and hopefully, approval. I'm also the founder of an international cosmetic distribution start-up that focuses on introducing established U.S. cosmetic brands into various African countries.
Q: What has been your greatest professional accomplishment so far?
A: 1) Being promoted as the (current) youngest Associate Director at my job and 2) receiving payment for my first invoice my start up.
Q: Who are some of your biggest female inspirations?
A: I can't name individuals, because there are literally so many! But they are the "everyday regular women" in my life. Those who are fearlessly taking life by its horns: climbing the corporate ladder/starting businesses/stepping out on faith to pursue their dreams. Those who are juggling careers and motherhood (seriously, working moms are so incredibly dope - I can barely take care of myself, they leave me in awe). And last, the women who refuse to accept societal pressures/norms. It takes a lot for a woman to stand strong in her convictions (whatever they may be) without fear of backlash-those who do have my unwavering respect.
Q: How do you stay motivated?
A: Well, first let me say staying motivated is NOT easy! There are times I'm super motivated and times things are so discouraging, I want to just give up and hide under a table (this may or may not happen often lol). My biggest motivation is the thought of having to give an account for my time and talent. One day, I'm going to have to stand before God and tell Him how I used the gifts He gave me. I don't want to be left thinking about the time I wasted instead of buckling down and doing what needed to be done.
Q: What item in your closet do you wear the most?
A: My J.Crew boyfriend jeans. It should be illegal how often I wear them. I'm not going to stop though.
Q: What's one thing that always makes you feel beautiful?
A: I have 2: Pretty lingerie and a fresh manicure.
