Say hello to PhenomeNAIL woman, Janae Raquel! We can’t get enough of this style guru’s creative passion or those gorgeous curls! Janae definitely walks to the beat of her own drum, and we’re so happy to learn a little more about her! See the interview below.
Q: We know that you do so many cool things, but in a nutshell, tell us what you do.
A: Well ultimately everything I do is an attempt to help another. I enjoy sharing information. That is why I began blogging. I am a lifestyle content creator obsessed with all things DIY with no limits. As a content creator, I wear many hats. Blogger, on-air personality, mentor, event planner, and brand ambassador.
Q: What has been your greatest personal or professional accomplishment so far?
A: Personally, a major accomplishment of mine has been being comfortable being alone. I went from always being either at someone’s house, having friends over in my free time, to now not realizing that I haven't seen my girlfriends in about two weeks. Because, just two years ago, I felt alone, I felt like there was no one who could hear me, or see through the smile I literally copied and pasted on my face daily. For some time, the smile I carried was literally apart of my make up routine. But today, being that the tables have turned, I enjoy my time alone. Whether it’s writing, cooking, or creating a new project, time will fly, and all ships will sail in a sea of happiness.
Q: What’s the best gift you've ever received?
A: I am a pretty old school, old soul gal. I recently got a record player for my Christmas and I am completely obsessed with the sound, the look, and the nostalgic vibes I get every time I cut it on. One of the best gifts given in a long time.
Q: We’re obsessed with your hair! What’s the secret to those perfect curls?
A: I allow my hair to make the executive decisions. I no longer decide, "hey I wanna wash deep condition Thursday night before my shows start." If my hair feels dry on Tuesday, that’s when I deep condition. But the secret is simplicity. I don't like to confuse my hair, so if something works, it works and I stick to it. Believe it or not, every new hot item doesn't sit inside the cabinets of my beauty room. I typically stick to what my hair knows, and rotate new things every so often (based on the brand). I may take chances in life, but when it comes to my hair, NOPE. The curls you see, are my natural curls that I've had a long term relationship with over these recent years. But, I must say, I am considering a new look soon. We'll see how that goes.
