Meet one of our favorite fashionista’s, Kia Davidson of TheNotoriousKia.com. Kia is a fashion enthusiast and entrepreneur. This PhenomeNAIL woman is best known for her fabulous DIY tutorials, and her undeniable sense of style. Check out our Q&A below.
Q: In a nutshell, tell us what you do and how you got started in the DIY world.
A: I’m a digital content creator, social media influencer, & brand ambassador - pretty much brands/companies hire me to promote their brand, product, or service to my audience.
I’ve always been creative and really resourceful growing up but it wasn’t until I was a broke college student/broke recent grad that I really started to get into DIY. Simply put, I love fashion but I couldn’t always afford to go shopping so I learned how to create the clothes I wanted. “Lack of...” really breeds creativity. Instead of succumbing to circumstances you use it as motivation; I try to apply this logic to all aspects of my life.
Q: Do you have a favorite quote or motto that you live by?
A: “I do this for the culture.”
Everything I do is for the betterment of the culture. I live to empower, inspire, & create a world where women, especially black women learn to love themselves, breakdown traditional standards of beauty and embrace their true self.
Q: What is your greatest strength?
A: Teaching. I love knowledge but I love sharing it more. The gift of knowledge is priceless.
Q: What is one thing you wish you knew when you were younger?
A: I did a bunch of unnecessary stuff growing up, I really wish I would have just focused on one thing and excelled at that. Choosing a passion early and focusing all your energy into achieving it is key; I probably wouldn’t have all this student loan debt from a degree that I might never use if I did that.
Q: What item in your closet do you wear the most?
A: Currently obsessing over patent leather ankle boots, I have 3 pairs I keep in rotation.
Q: What is your must-do beauty routine?
A: Eyebrows must be fleeky; they really frame your face.
Q: What is the best advice you've ever been given?
A: “Travel more” You should.
