Anything you can think of – rugs, gold, spices, snakes, lightbulbs, diamonds – you can buy it all under one roof.

But not until you engage in the art of negotiation.

I remember walking into a fabric store and staring at a tapestry made of the deepest magenta-colored silk I had ever seen, with a price tag that my study abroad budget could not afford.

I decided that I wanted the tapestry and I was going to attempt to get the best price possible using all the Jersey girl energy in the world. I named a price and the store owner started to laughed. We went back and forth. He stopped laughing, but I walked away with the tapestry.

And you now have this brilliant pink.
